Playing for the Earth
Culture for Future and ARCHA+, in collaboration with the blog Podhoubí, announce the results of the open call for young creators.
A five-member committee selected from more than thirty proposals for plays that deal with environmental issues. Four proposals were placed in the first three positions!
1st place – Gabriela Gabašová: The Last Summer
Three seniors and a lawsuit against the state that does not do enough during heat waves. The play inspired by the Klimaseniorinnen case shows how the everyday struggle to breathe can grow into a political act.
2nd place – Jakub Štrba: Deep Connection w/ Collective Anxiety
A play about field research on personal ecology.
3rd place – Adéla Holemá: V+D
Having a simple wedding in a meadow would be easy if family and nature did not have their own plans.
3rd place – Tereza Pavlíková: If You See Me, Cry
A journey into the past accompanied by historical sources about drought, which show how the current drought is different.
From the received proposals, the committee decided to highlight and symbolically award some other texts that stand out either for their concept, work with language or use of strong metaphors.

Gabriela Gabašová's winning proposal will now be further developed in a creative residency led by Anna Tabášková and David Košťák. The resulting game is scheduled to be completed by February 2026, with an expected release in autumn 2026.
