Clap: Transity of Venus – PREMIERE
Antonín Dolák lies in the timelessness of his bare room on the top floor of Lorenz's villa. Because of his work, he was expelled from Ostrava University, from lectures at DAMU, and from other institutions. He offended everyone and gave up on everything else. He no longer seeks Truth with a capital T—artificial intelligence will surely do that for us. The final straw for him was the deletion of his channel with a decade of history: from philosophical lectures to anti-artistic, provocative, and childish philosophical theater. For some fans, he is a self-centered parasite, for others, he is such a virtual fiction on the internet that they cannot imagine him as part of the shared world. Is there anything left to love about Dolák? Is anything sacred to him? An overwhelming loneliness sets in.
Jan Šimice is a graduate of the Department of Documentary Film in Písek, a die-hard lover of film and beer. He has several short and student films to his credit, in which he combines an interest in unusual personalities with formally daring experiments. In addition, he works behind the bar, does animal handling, and occasional theater work.
The screening of Transit of Venus will be complemented by two short films by the director.
The Third Space program brings all the places in ARŠE+ to life. The name itself is based on the sociological concept of third places, which describes spaces between home, school, or work where people meet and spend their free time. More information can be found here.
